What or Whom Do You Worship? (Eph. 5:3-8)

Ephesians 5:3-8

Paul Here begins to show a contrast between Christians & non- Christians behavior

That is those that walk in the Light of God as opposed to those people walking in darkness or the world

Reading of Eph. 5:1-8

{4:20-4:40} Review from last episode..Ecc. 7:1 A good name is better than precious perfume

{4:41-5:15} Each person has a unique 'body odor/scent ...we all carry a name that has meaning...we are all to be lights to the world

{5:15-6:08} In Christ we all have an unforgettable scent

{6:09-6:15} As A favored son or daughter of God with Jesus living inside of us we have an unforgettable name

{6:15-6:20} Without Christ Your Name/Scent will be as a vapor(Hebel) that quickly passes away

{6:50-7:15} The contrast is now shown to the scent, the light, & the Name

{7:15-7:32} For the contrast--in this episode we are covering 'What Christians are NOT to be Like'

{7:40-8:10} 'Let It not even be Named Among You!'

{8:45-8:52} Eph. 5:3 covetousness & uncleanness...meant EVERYTHING impure & Unclean to the Greeks

{9:03-9:31} The common principal predominantly in view in this passage is NOT so much sexual impurity (though mentioned) but rather a sense of lusting after & joining oneself to physical objects outside of God to obtain Fulfillment

{9:46-9:51} To join oneself to an object/ person outside of God for fulfillment = IDOL WORSHIP

{10:25-10:32} Idol Worship is synonyms then with uncleanness & covetousness

{11:20-11:45} It is not totally wrong to have nice things...cars, houses etc,,etc,,as long as that is not your primary focus above God

{13:04-13:06} Colossians 3:8

{14:00-14:08} Instead of focusing on all the Impurity & Negativity of the world we should be focused on things to give Thanks for

{15:22-16:27} Philippians 4:8 For the rest, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is worthy of reverence and is honorable and seemly, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely and lovable, whatever is kind and winsome and gracious, if there is any virtue and excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think on and weigh and take account of these things [fix your minds on them]. (AMBC)

{16:27-16:57} Are you listening  & focusing on Good things or Bad things?...Whatever you place in your heart & mind will flow out of your mouth

{17:25-17:48} Even good joking & jesting can be carried too far & diminish the grace & presence of God...Authentic Thankfulness & Joy can never be replace through jesting

{18:34-19:56} Here is what we should be doing...Eph. 5:19-20 speaking & singing to ourselves & each other in Psalms, Hymns, & Spiritual songs....How  are you speaking to yourself & others each day? What are you thinking about in all your interactions daily ..are you negative or positive?

{20:05-20:17} Of this you are sure KNOWING..or this you know being aware aware...=GREEK...Eph. 5:5

{20:27-22:15} Covetous Man is the same as Idolater ...so a Covetous person= an Idolater...covetousness worships the 'creature' instead of the creator which is the highest treason against God...Matthew 6:24 you can not serve or worship BOTH God & Man(things)

{22:20-22:58} Covetousness = Idolatry which IS the ROOT of ALL Uncleanness & Impurity

{23:02-24:05} Phil. 3:18-20/ I Jn. 2:15-16

{24:05-25:10} The Wrath of God is ALREADY PRESENT on the Life that is Idolatrous

{25:10-26:00} Eph. 5:6,7 ... Col. 2:8...'Children of Unbelief'...a lack of Faith...evil acts are born out of a life devoid of Faith...lack of Faith= Evil

{26:00-26:36}  Eph. 5:7 references Eph. 5:11

{26:36-27:56} Was Cain Killing Abel rooted in Covetousness

{28:20-28:50} Phil. 4:8 ..FOCUS on THESE THINGS
